Nippon Kan Theatre hosts public events throughout the year — performances, cultural gatherings, community celebrations, and more. Built in 1909 in Seattle's International District and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the theatre has been a gathering place for over a century.   • Katsura Sunshine's Rakugo

    7.11 7:00-9:30PM

    A show of hilarity and culture in equal doses!

    Katsura Sunshine completed his grueling traditional apprenticeship in Rakugo comic storytelling under the great Rakugo Master Katsura Bunshi VI in 2011.

    His performances have delighted audiences throughout the world as well as all over Japan.

    Sunshine has graced the Broadway stage with a different delightful Japanese story each month since 2019, at the famous New World Stages in Manhattan.

    Come for an hour of laughter and leave with a piece of Japan in you heart!

  • Bruce Lee Stamp Ceremony

    The U.S. Postal Service will honor Bruce Lee, the renowned Chinese American martial artist and actor, with a new Forever stamp. Lee captivated film audiences with his skill, charisma, and screen presence and inspired a generation of young fans to explore action movies, mixed martial arts, and Asian culture.

    The first-day-of-issue event for the Bruce Lee Forever stamp is free and open to the public.
